Answers to the most common questions

4x4 havai tour

Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our excursions, bookings, and how our tours operate.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us using the form above.

Are the tours suitable for everyone?

Our tours are suitable for most visitors, as there is very little walking involved and this is not an off-road 4×4 experience.
The excursion remains comfortable overall; however, some sections may be less suitable for pregnant women, elderly guests, or those with significant back problems.
We recommend that these guests carefully consider whether this type of excursion is appropriate for them.
It is advisable to consult a doctor beforehand or contact us for more information.

What should I bring for the tour?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes, and bringing water, a hat, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.
Don’t forget your camera!

Do you offer a pickup service from hotels or guesthouses?

Tours usually depart from the Uturoa ferry terminal.
Pickup may sometimes be arranged from other locations (generally on the east coast of Raiatea or from places such as Opoa Beach, Apatoa, or Sunset Beach), depending on other participants.
Please contact us with your accommodation details so we can check what’s possible.

Will we meet local producers?

We always showcase local products, but meeting the producer is not guaranteed.
This depends on the day, the season, and the activities taking place at the time.

Do the tours take you to places that are usually inaccessible?

Yes, our 4×4 allows access to agricultural tracks and remote areas that are not accessible by standard vehicles.

Are there meal options available for special dietary needs on the “Raiatea Authentique” tour?

While there are no specific menu options, feel free to contact us with your dietary restrictions, and we will do our best to accommodate them whenever possible.

Are there stops during the tour to rest or take photos?
Yes, we make several stops to admire the landscapes, take photos, and enjoy short breaks along the way.
Our small group size (maximum 8 guests) allows us to adapt to each guest’s pace.

How to book?

You can book by sending us a message through the contact form above or directly via the booking calendar on each tour page.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, especially on days when cruise ships are in port, as spots fill up quickly.
For full-day tours, we also need to coordinate with local producers, so booking in advance is recommended.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, and bank transfers.
You can contact us before your arrival to discuss the payment option that works best for you.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes, private tours are available on request. Contact us for a customized quote.

Do the tours run in bad weather?

In case of light rain, the tour will go ahead as planned.
In case of severe or unsafe weather conditions, the tour may be postponed or cancelled for safety reasons.

What happens if the tour is cancelled?

We offer either a rescheduling or a refund, depending on the situation.

Are the tours tailored to cruise ship schedules?

Yes, especially the “Raiatea Immersion” tour, which is designed to match the arrival and departure times of the main cruise ships.
If you have any doubts, feel free to contact us using the form above so we can review your specific port schedule.

What happens if I’m late?

The best thing to do is to contact us as soon as possible.
Depending on the length of the delay and the number of guests on the tour, we will see whether it is possible to wait for you or reschedule the excursion.
Otherwise, the full tour price will remain due, as this will be considered a cancellation less than 24 hours in advance.
