Full-day tour of Raiatea

Cultural heritage and agricultural traditions

“Raiatea Authentique” is a full-day experience designed to fully explore the island’s diversity: cultural heritage, preserved landscapes, and local agriculture.

This tour builds on the “Raiatea Immersion” program, with more time at each stop, extended 4×4 access into the heart of the island, and a deeper immersion into the products and plantations that define Raiatea.

An authentic journey combining culture, nature, and local know-how.

“Raiatea Authentique” – Full-day tour in Raiatea: culture, agrotourism & local know-how

A full day to experience Raiatea differently, at your own pace...

Que dois-je apporter ?

– Program adjusted according to agricultural activities: some stops may vary slightly or may not be available on certain dates. –

Spend a full day in the heart of Raiatea and immerse yourself in the authenticity of the sacred island. This tour invites you to discover Polynesian culture, local know-how, and the daily life of farmers and artisans who keep the island’s heritage alive.

Your guide will take the time to explore volcanic landscapes, agricultural valleys, and stunning lagoon viewpoints. With a comfortable 4×4, you’ll easily access certain agricultural tracks and remote areas, allowing stops in places that are usually difficult to reach. Throughout the tour, your guide will make regular stops to share stories, introduce local plants, and offer insights into everyday island life.

As with the “Raiatea Immersion” half-day tour, you will enjoy visits to:

  • a pearl farm, to understand the different stages of cultivating Tahitian pearls
  • Taputapuatea Marae, a major UNESCO World Heritage Site and spiritual center of the Polynesian Triangle

The advantage of the full-day tour: much more time at each stop to deepen your discovery, ask questions, take photos, or simply enjoy the atmosphere.

After a friendly lunch break (picnic or local snack depending on the day’s organization), the afternoon is dedicated to a more in-depth agrotourism experience focused on the fa’apu and farming practices inspired by permaculture.

You will visit one or more fa’apu (traditional Polynesian gardens) to discover the diversity of local crops, watch coconut demonstrations, explore a local honey farm, and taste seasonal products and local honey. Depending on availability, this part may also include meeting a local producer or visiting their farm (coconut oil, cocoa, etc.).

A full, immersive, and welcoming day to discover Raiatea differently — through its land, its history, its traditions, and the people who bring it to life.

Enjoy the insights of a passionate guide, who will share the essentials of the island’s culture, nature, and local know-how, in both French and English.

Any purchases made in shops or directly from local producers must be paid on-site.
